Genius Hour

THE HISTORY BEHIND MOSAIC ART

Friday June 16th

L- I was researching different types of art styles and the history of them. So for my genius hour I chose to learn about the history of mosaic art. The reason I chose to learn about this is because it looks interesting and I think it will be fun to learn about. This will benefit others because they will learn more about a different type of art and the history of it.

A- Questions

- How long ago was mosaic art made?

- Who created it?

- Why was it created?

- Where is mosaic art usually used?

- Does the art usually have a meaning behind it?
- Are there different styles of mosaic art?

- Are there any famous mosaic artists?

- Is there a certain way mosaic art has to be done?

During genius hour I hope to find the answers to my questions. I can do this by doing research on mosaic art and the history of it.

U- The history behind mosaic art goes back over 4000 years ago. It was made by the Greek when they decided to make designs and patterns with colourful stones. They would make designs and patterns of people and animals. Then they started making mosaic floors and also started to use colourful glass. Mosaic art is basically just putting a bunch a small pieces of glass together to make a design.

Friday June 23rd

N- Now that I am done my research I would like to say that I really enjoyed learning about mosaic art and the history of it. I found it very interesting to learn about and I am glad I chose to learn about it So for my creative piece I decided to make a model of a mosaic piece.

Tuesday June 27th

C- For my create part of genius hour I decided to make a google drawing of a mosaic art piece. I feel this going to be a bit difficult because I want to get the shapes in the right place and I want it to turn out really well. I am going to make a sunset.
